A SMARTER, LIGHTER DESIGN
We've refined the RMaxx Running Board design around three priorities: minimizing weight, improving corrosion resistance, and making installation simpler. The result is a premium running board that complements your Rivian without unnecessary mass or complicated assembly.
Aluminum frames and tread plates substantially reduce weight compared with our original steel design. Just 22 lb per side for R1T and 18 lb per side for R1S, helping minimize added vehicle mass.
Tread plates are welded directly to the running-board frames rather than bolted on. No exposed tread-plate bolt heads, no tread-plate assembly, and a cleaner factory-inspired appearance.
Aluminum boards are paired with 300-series stainless steel mounting brackets. Both receive a textured black powder-coated finish for durability and a coordinated OEM-style look.

RMaxx Rock Sliders are heavier-duty structural assemblies designed to protect the outer underside of your Rivian when driving over rocks or other obstacles.

ENGINEERED FOR THE RIVIAN PLATFORM
The RMaxx design places the running board close to the vehicle, following the R1T and R1S lower body lines rather than extending unnecessarily outward or hanging below the underbody. A modest traction pattern provides secure footing without oversized logos or distracting styling features.
Lightweight construction and an aerodynamic, tucked-in profile help minimize the additional weight and airflow disruption normally associated with aftermarket running boards. Actual range impact will vary with driving conditions.
Vehicle-specific, low-profile brackets keep the boards close to the body without unnecessary downward-hanging structures. The design also avoids added wind noise or whistling.
Team 1EV developed the aluminum running boards for dependable everyday use and long-term appearance. Every major detail—from the mounting brackets to the tube end treatments—was considered to create an integrated product that looks as good as it performs.
Lightweight aluminum construction
Frames and tread plates use aluminum alloy, offering substantially lower weight than the original steel running boards. Aluminum also resists the red rust associated with ordinary steel.
Stainless steel mounting brackets
300-series stainless steel brackets deliver corrosion resistance while securely fastening the boards to the Rivian frame.
Integrated welded construction
Welded-on tread plates eliminate exposed tread-plate fasteners. The outer frame tubes finish in concealed welded joints rather than separate visible end caps.
Textured black powder coating
A durable electrostatic textured finish completes the OEM-inspired appearance on both the steps and brackets.
CUSTOMIZE YOUR INSTALLATION
RMaxx Running Boards bolt directly to the Rivian frame. Because the factory plastic underbody panels cover the mounting locations, you have three installation choices. Our optional aluminum Aero Cover Plates provide the cleanest, most integrated finished appearance without cutting the original plastic panels.
Remove the factory plastic covers and leave them off. This is the simplest, lowest-cost approach, but leaves those original underbody areas uncovered.
Cut approximately 4-inch clearance openings in the existing plastic panels using our installation templates. Keep the original underbody appearance with some cutting required.
Recommended. Replace the factory plastic panels with our bolt-on aluminum covers, featuring pre-engineered running-board bracket clearances and jack-puck access ports.

DIY-FRIENDLY BOLT-ON DESIGN
RMaxx Aluminum Running Boards are designed for straightforward installation using the Rivian's existing frame attachment locations. No cutting, drilling, or permanent modifications to the vehicle frame are required. With the tread plates already welded to the boards, there is less assembly compared with the original steel running boards.
Decide whether to remove, modify, or replace the factory underbody plastic covers with optional Aero Cover Plates.
Secure the stainless steel mounting brackets using the factory frame attachment points and included hardware, following the model-specific guide.
Position the preassembled aluminum running boards, attach them to the brackets, adjust their placement, and tighten all hardware to the specified torque.

Yes. RMaxx Aluminum Running Boards are compatible with Rivian's Reinforced Underbody Shield (RUS). The running board mounting brackets attach outside the RUS coverage area and do not interfere with the factory shield.
They are engineered to minimize range impact through lightweight construction and an aerodynamic design that remains tucked inside the outer tire profile. At approximately 22 lb per side for R1T and 18 lb per side for R1S, they add significantly less weight than our original steel running boards. Actual range impact depends on speed, driving conditions and vehicle configuration.
RMaxx Running Boards are designed with low-profile mounting brackets that minimize ground-clearance impact. The brackets do not extend unnecessarily beneath the vehicle, helping preserve the Rivian's original off-road capabilities.
Yes. The mounting brackets are designed to maintain clearance for Rivian's factory jacking points and service lifting equipment. The running boards do not need to be removed for routine Rivian service lifting operations. Always use the vehicle's approved lifting locations and procedures.
RMaxx Running Boards are engineered for normal passenger entry and exit, with reinforced stainless steel brackets, multiple frame attachment points and gusseted structures. They are designed to accommodate multiple passengers using the step surface. They are not designed to function as rock sliders, underbody armor or vehicle recovery equipment.
Not necessarily. You may remove the factory panels and leave them off, cut approximately 4-inch mounting bracket clearance holes using the provided templates, or select our optional bolt-on aluminum Aero Cover Plates. The Aero Cover Plates replace the factory plastic panels and provide pre-engineered bracket clearance openings, so no plastic cutting is necessary.
Yes. RMaxx Aluminum Running Boards are designed for DIY installation using standard tools. The tread plates are already welded to the frames, eliminating the extra tread-plate assembly required with older versions. Follow the appropriate R1T or R1S installation guide and use the specified fastener torque values.
Yes. The aluminum running boards use the same vehicle mounting locations as the original RMaxx steel running boards and can utilize the same clearance openings in the original plastic or compatible Aero Cover Plates. Order the correct R1T or R1S aluminum running board version.
The optional Aero Cover Plates are designed for Gen 1 Rivians and Gen 2 vehicles equipped with NCA battery packs, including Large and Max packs. They also fit Gen 2 LFP-equipped Standard and Standard+ vehicles, although a small cosmetic gap may be visible near the front aero panel. This does not affect the panel's intended function.
No. RMaxx Aluminum Running Boards are lightweight entry steps designed for everyday convenience. RMaxx Rock Sliders are a separate heavy-duty steel product with integrated structural underbody skid-plate armor. If you regularly drive over rocks or obstacles and need outer underbody protection, we recommend the RMaxx Rock Sliders.
