Three inches of lift for the F-150 Lightning, with forged aluminum upper control arms and no cutting or drilling. Rough Country's 40900 kit raises the front of the truck and levels it front to rear, clearing room for a taller tire without touching the factory frame or bodywork.
An electric truck is not a gas truck with a different engine. The Lightning carries its battery low and central, and it weighs substantially more than an equivalent combustion F-150. Suspension components on an EV truck work against more mass in every direction — under braking, in corners, and over compression.
This kit addresses that with forged 6082-T6 aluminum upper control arms rather than stamped steel. Forged aluminum gives you the strength to handle the added mass while keeping unsprung weight down, which matters more on a heavy vehicle than a light one. Rubber bushings are used throughout for compliance and long service life on a daily-driven truck.
Any lift changes how a vehicle moves through air, and on an EV that shows up directly as range. Raising ride height by three inches increases frontal area and disturbs the underbody airflow the Lightning was designed around. Pairing the lift with a taller, more aggressive tire adds rolling resistance and rotating mass on top of that.
Expect a measurable reduction in range. How much depends far more on your tire choice than on the lift itself — a heavy mud-terrain will cost you considerably more than a moderately sized all-terrain. If maximum range is your priority, this is not the modification for you. If you want the truck to look and work the way you need it to and you are willing to trade some miles for that, this kit is a well-engineered way to get there.
The kit bolts on using factory mounting points and reverses cleanly to stock configuration. Nothing is cut, drilled, or permanently modified. If the truck is leased, or you plan to sell it on, the suspension can be returned to original specification.
