The engineers at Team 1EV figured early on that the factory camp speaker location was the perfect place to store valuables or a self-defense gun. Finding a secure and safe place to secure your valued goods is very important and since the Rivian has no locking spaces from the factory, there is no acceptable location secured from thieves, valet, unscrupulous and unauthorized people, curious kids, or smash-and-grab criminals. The design spec was set to offer a securable vault, in a conveniently accessible location, in a manner that could be locked to the vehicle independent of any software. The vault needed to be sized appropriately to fit most common midsize framed self-protection handguns as well.
The Team 1EV Vault Box is manufactured from CNC formed heavy-wall alloy steel and finished in a textured gloss black wrinkle finish powder coating. The Vault lid door is locked using the high security barrel key. The Vault is physically locked to the Rivian using the provided steel cable which interlocks to the passenger seat frame. The cable lock enables the Vault to be removed from the camp speaker dock, but not removed from the vehicle unless the Vault lid is opened to unlock the cable from the Vault.
Details matter and after test fitting the most common self-defense handguns for fitment and realized the exact camp speaker dimensions are a bit small for many handguns. So we extended the length of the Vault just enough to comfortably clear most handguns while limiting the protrusion from the camp speaker doc to a reasonable 0.8" inches -- which is not objectionable. The inside of each Vault is fully lined with high density foam, which can be removed entirely if desired. The lower foam comes pre-diced so that trimmed specifically to a custom receiver pocket shape that matches your handgun or desired valuables is a quick and easy process.

Press it into the Camp Speaker Port and it clips into place (does not rattle or jiggle around). Note, it does not interface with on-screen camp speaker electronic lock. It simply clicks into place. When you're ready to open it, just pull it out.
