Rivian shared new updates on the R2 during their Q4 2024 Webinar. Rivian is currently focused on cost control and production efficiency as it moves closer to production.

Rivian will be using large high-pressure die castings which reduces connection points and speeds up production. Fewer parts will help cut costs to make the R2 more affordable. Rivian is also expanding its Normal, Illinois factory to prepare for R2 mass production.

The R2 development vehicles has also completed winter testing in snow, ice, and freezing temperatures.
