Rivian has clarified the paint availability for the R2 Launch Edition, revealing that the highly anticipated Borealis (purple) color will not be offered on this initial limited-run model. Instead, Borealis will be reserved for the standard R2 Performance trim following the launch phase. Additionally, while Forest Green is confirmed for the Launch Edition, it will not be available immediately at the start of production and is scheduled to arrive later in the year.

The initial rollout will feature Esker Silver as the only no-cost standard color. Other available options include Launch Green, Glacier White, Midnight, Catalina Cove, and Half Moon Grey, all of which carry an additional fee. This strategy allows Rivian to streamline early production while deferring more specialized finishes to future manufacturing cycles.
