Rivian is updating its Autonomy Platform with the 2025.46 software update for Gen 2 R1 vehicles to improve data collection for features like parking, active safety, and future hands-free driving.

The main change is how the system blocks exterior camera image capture at private locations. Rivians currently block the first and last three minutes of every drive, the vehicle will now use locations saved in the Navigation app (like Home or Work) to automatically exclude those areas from recording.

Owners can still opt out entirely by turning off "Exterior Cameras Data Sharing" in the vehicle's "Data and Privacy" settings. Rivian assures users that all images collected for development are anonymized and not linked to their personal information.
