Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe confirmed during the Q3 2025 earnings call that the highly anticipated Rivian R2 will first launch as a "well-appointed" Dual Motor model. This initial variant is expected to make customers happy right from the start. Other variants, including higher-performance options, will be introduced later in 2026 after the initial launch.

To showcase the full vehicle family, Rivian plans to host a dedicated event in early 2026. This event will reveal the complete R2 lineup, including all trims, features, and configurations in their final production form, ahead of deliveries beginning later that same year. Furthermore, the R2 is being designed to be sold in overseas markets.
