Ford F-150 Lightning SnapPlate Installation Guide
Installation
Test Fit SnapPlate
Before installing your license plate, test fit SnapPlate on the bumper to determine whether any adjustment is needed. Press both sliders inward and hold them in position.
Insert SnapPlate
Insert SnapPlate into the top of the center bumper opening and release both sliders.
Secure the Sliders
Pull both sliders outward until they are flush with the vertical bars on the bumper.
Choose Your Plate Height
SnapPlate ships in the high position by default. If you prefer a different license plate position, complete the Plate Height Adjustment instructions below before continuing.
Install Your License Plate
Attach your license plate using four of the included black or silver Torx security screws.
Open the Mount
Press both sliders inward and hold them in position.
Install SnapPlate on the Vehicle
Insert SnapPlate into the top of the center grille opening and release both sliders.
Fully Engage the Mount
Pull both sliders outward to make sure SnapPlate is fully secured to the bumper and the magnets are engaged.
Confirm Proper Installation
Check that the sliders line up with the vertical bars on the grille. This confirms that SnapPlate is secure and the magnets are fully engaged.
Install the Anti-Theft Screws
For additional security, install the two included black washer-head anti-theft security screws into the holes in the sliders.
Remove Before Automatic Car Washes
Remove SnapPlate before entering an automated car wash. Most touchless washes may be fine, but removing SnapPlate beforehand is recommended.
Bumper Depth Adjustment
If SnapPlate fits too tightly or too loosely against the bumper, the mounting depth can be adjusted for the proper fit.
Locate the Adjustment Screws
Locate the T25 Torx adjustment screws on the SnapPlate mounting mechanism.
Increase the Mounting Depth
Turn each T25 screw counterclockwise 1/2 turn. Each 1/2-turn adjustment loosens the fit by approximately 0.25 mm. Test fit SnapPlate on the vehicle and repeat in small increments as needed.
Decrease the Mounting Depth
Turn each T25 screw clockwise 1/2 turn. Each 1/2-turn adjustment tightens the fit by approximately 0.25 mm. Test fit SnapPlate and repeat in small increments as needed.
Plate Height Adjustment
The F-150 Lightning SnapPlate is adjustable into multiple plate positions. SnapPlate ships in the high position by default, which is recommended for maximum airflow to the radiator.
Remove the Plate Mount
Remove the two screws securing the license plate mount to the SnapPlate body.
High Position
Position the plate mount with the bottom aligned with the SnapPlate body and reinstall the mounting screws.
Center Position
Align the middle mounting holes with the middle of the SnapPlate base and reinstall the screws.
Low Position
Align the bottom holes of the plate mount with the top holes in the SnapPlate base and reinstall the screws.
Install the License Plate
Attach your license plate using four of the included black or silver security screws.
