Rivian has broken ground on a new multi-billion-dollar manufacturing facility in Social Circle, Georgia, expected to bring 7,500 permanent jobs by 2030 and 2,000 construction jobs during its build-out. The plant will produce Rivian’s next-generation electric vehicles, including the R2 SUV and R3 crossover, with customer production slated to begin in 2028. Built in two phases, the facility will eventually reach an annual capacity of 400,000 vehicles, supporting both U.S. sales and international expansion.
The project is projected to generate billions in economic benefits, including nearly 8,000 indirect jobs and over $1 billion in annual labor income for the region. Local leaders, including Governor Brian Kemp, hailed the investment as a major win for Georgia families and communities. Rivian is also prioritizing sustainable design and community integration, with plans for recreational trails, educational partnerships, and workforce development programs—cementing the plant as both an economic and environmental milestone for the state.
